MPT - Owner/ Physical Therapist
Jacquie graduated from the University of MT Physical Therapy School in 2001. She has practiced in outpatient physical therapy throughout her career with a focus in sport and orthopedic physical therapy. She has greatly enjoyed serving the good people of Butte since 2005. She and her family live in Butte where she plans to continue assisting the people of southwest Montana in returning to the activities they love. Jacquie certified in trigger point dry needling in 2018. Trigger point dry needling can be an effective tool to reduce painful knots and tight banding in muscles that has been resistant to other treatments. Jacquie trained in the Gunn method, which treats the neural level associated with the painful muscle to provide optimal relief. And, Jacquie is also certified in LSVT-BIG. This program is designed to assist patients with Parkinson’s disease in improving their movement in daily life. People with this disease often walk with a small, and shuffling step. LSVT-BIG also helps to restore normal walking patterns. More information on this program can be found below. In addition to her certifications, Jacquie has worked with hundreds of orthopedic post-operative patients, so has a strong background in rehabilitation following joint replacement surgeries, spinal fusions, and soft tissue repair including the rotator cuff.
Jacquie McAdam, MPT, and Julie Watson, PTA, earned their certifications in LSVT BIG, a program designed to help people with Parkinson's disease. The program has been developed and scientifically researched over the past 25 years with funding from the National Institutes for Health. The idea behind LSVT BIG is to re-calibrate the nervous system for a patient with Parkinson's disease from moving small to moving with larger, more normal movement to improve gait, balance, and function with daily activities. The LSVT BIG program consists of four weeks of physical therapy, where the patient is seen four times per week without interruption, along with a home exercise program. It can only be provided by an LSVT BIG-certified physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant under PT supervision. The program is intense and requires a large amount of effort on the part of the patient and the therapist, but the rewards can be great! More information on LSVT BIG can be found at www.LSVTglobal.com. To make an appointment, or to see if LSVT BIG might work for you, call Copper City PT at 299-2450
